WEEKLY  WRAP UP

So it’s been a kind of yucky two weeks… Not only is my computer pretty much kaput again (we are definitely just buying a new one at this point) but I came down with a horrible flu this weekend, which has now turned into a sinus infection, so I’ve been doing a lot sleeping and resting. But, I am getting some reading done, so I suppose that is a plus! I am still pretty sick so I am behind on blog posts, so please bear with me until I am back too 100%. Thanks!

Happy Reading!
Laura

WEEKLY WRAP UP
Wow, I can’t believe it’s already AUGUST! How quickly this summer is flying by! And with it, valuable reading time in the sun. Unfortunately for me, this summer has been busy and I have another few busy weeks ahead – which is really cramping my reading style! Where I typically read a book in just a few days, it’s taking me up to or more than a week! So I apologize if posts and reviews aren’t as often or up-to-date. It is summer after all, so we should all be outside enjoying it before the snow starts falling, right?
This has been a crazy week for me, and where I am usually guaranteed at least two evenings of reading time since my boyfriend is a musician and practices with his band twice a week, those days didn’t happen this week so there went my reading time! But I squeeze time in to read wherever I can – while cooking dinner, on breaks and lunch at work, etc. So I make do! But once the weather starts getting colder and we aren’t out hiking, having bonfires, playing mini golf, and spending time outdoors as much, I’ll get back on my regular reading schedule.
I was owed books by my boyfriend (sometimes he bribes me with books, I can’t say I’m necessarily proud of accepting books as bribes, but hey, books. Right? lol) so we headed to Barnes & Noble this weekend where I picked up Will Grayson, Will Grayson – even though I had JUST gotten it from the library, I decided I needed to own my own copy since it’s the Book-of-the-Month for my book club. I also grabbed Ink by Amanda Sun. And then yesterday when I was at Wegmans, I grabbed This Lullaby, because I adore Sarah Dessen and the cover just screamed, “BUY ME!” It did, I swear! I didn’t answer it back though, that might have been awkward… hee hee…
I also finally purchased the Naked 2 eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay. I have an obsession with makeup, and I’ve been wanting this palette for awhile, but the price tag was pretty steep. Luckily I had a 20% off coupon though, and I’m excited to play around with it! I swatched both Naked 1 and Naked 2 palettes all up my arm on Friday night when I was in the store – and then on Saturday I made my boyfriend take me back to buy it. As I opened the package, I explained that it was like getting a copy of the newest Halo game for Xbox. He understood the importance then, lol
In bloggish news, I am going to be adding a linky and advanced list of topics for my weekly I LOVE YOUR COVER post, since I see people interested in participating. There will be more info in the post this week, but I just wanted to mention here, in case you are interested in participating.
I’m also considering doing giveaways on my Instagram account, so if you aren’t following me yet, please do so! My Instagram name is: Thelittlepinkbookboutique. I’m also participating in The Book Soulmates Photo-a-day Challenge for August, so definitely follow me to check that out and participate too, it’s not too late!
I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend, and let’s have a great reading week coming up!
Keep Calm & Read On,
Laura

WEEKLY WRAP UP
This has been a busy week for me, and sadly the blog was neglected just a little bit. But I did celebrate my birthday this week, and I did get a few new books, so I really can’t complain! The heat and humidity has finally relieved my tiny corner of New York state from it’s nasty clutches and we’ve been comfortably in the seventies – perfect reading and sleeping weather 🙂 Other than spending time with family and friends, it’s been a quiet week here. I’ve been lost in the world of Rifthold and Celaena Sardothien all week thanks to my ARC of Crown of Midnight which I will get the review up for soon. Hope everyone had a good week and here’s to a great one next week!
Happy Reading!

WEEKLY WRAP UP

There is only one word to describe this week… SCORCHING! I think it’s been pretty hot everywhere across the US, but here in Buffalo – where people like to make fun of us for all of the snow we get – the mercury’s been pushing the 90-95 degree range, and the heat index has been over 100. That’s not cool. I’ve luckily stayed cool in my glorious air conditioning, and have been getting some good reading done!
This week was also the first meeting of the YA Book Club that Sara at Forever17Books set up, and Jessica from Jessabella Reads joined us too! It was lots of fun, and we discussed all topics from blogging, to ARCs, and oh yeah, the book we read! We are going to be reading Will Grayson, Will Grayson for August!
I had an emotional week though, with the passing of Talia Catellano, or TaliaJoy18 if you follow her on YouTube. She was a 13-year-old who has been fighting 2 kinds of aggressive, terminal cancer for six years. She unfortunately lost her battle on Tuesday, and it was just so sad but amazing to see how many fans and celebrities have been affected by her passing. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.
We also lost Cory Monteith this week.. My heart is heavy with the loss of these two talented angels. I haven’t watched Glee in awhile, but I did have a definite Glee-a-thon when it became available on Netflix, and absolutely adored the show! I would say I’m a Gleek!
I also started an Instagram account for my blog! Follow me, my user name is Thelittlepinkbookboutique.
I also am getting together some giveaways, so those will be starting soon!
I hope everyone else had a great week, and here’s to an even greater one next week!
Happy Reading!

ON MY BOOKSHELF {13}

My books from BEA finally got here! Since I took a train there and back, I wasn’t able to bring all of my books home. My BFF, who went with me and lives on Long Island, was kind enough to give my books a happy home until she came back to Buffalo for the 4th of July. Now they are back with me and safe & sound. I’ll be compiling a post just for those books shortly. Expect Giveaways too.

WEEKLY WRAP-UP: First off, I must congratulate JILL who won the Freedom to Read Giveaway from last week! Congrats to Jill, and I hope you love your new book!
It was a good reading week for me. On Wednesday July 17th the book club that Sara from Forever17 Books started up is meeting, and our first book that we will discuss is Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. I power read that book this week! I will posting a review up after the book club meeting. If you’ve read it, leave me comments to let me know if you liked it or not, and any of your favorite scenes and characters.
The family that we had in from out of town that I mentioned in last week’s Sunday Journal left on Thursday, which is always sad since it was my best friend/future-sis-in-law, future-bro-in-law, and my adorably funny one-year-old niece/Goddaughter. But now I have time to read again, and I’m hoping to finally finish Icons by Margaret Stohl. I’m shocked it’s taken me this long to read it, especially since it isn’t a huge book by any means!
I’ve also been doing more thinking about starting a vlog series on my YouTube channel. I’ve come up with a sassy name, well I think it’s sassy anyway! And I’m hoping to start filming my first episode soon, to see if I think it’s going to work. I will need help from you guys though! If you have any questions for me, either as a blogger or just in general, or any type of bookish ideas for vlogs please let me know either comment below, tweet me @lalalaura725 with #vlogQs, email me, or hit me up on Facebook or Formspring and ask me anything. I have a few ideas but will need more, and would love for it to be interactive.
Other than that, we have a really hot week ahead of us here in my little corner of Western NY. I’ll be glad to spend that time reading and keeping cool! Hope everyone enjoys their week!
Happy Reading,

Hey Bookworms! The Sunday Journal is a book and non-book related post, highlighting my Just Finished, Currently Reading, and Up Next books, as well as posts that went up during the week, and any interesting fun facts that happened during the week.

This is kind of a boring edition of Sunday Journal this week. Because of the holiday on Thursday, and family being in from out of town, I am still reading the same CURRENTLY READING books from last week. I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July, and next week I’ll definitely have new books up for this part of the post!

WEEKLY WRAP-UP
It was a hectic, busy week for me, and this upcoming week will be as well. We have plans most of the week with out-of-town family, so it’s going to be a little sparse on postings this week. But next week! Next week I will be back to regular postings, and my reading schedule will be back on track.

I also wanted to say hello to all of my new followers from entering the Freedom to Read Giveaway. I’m so happy you’re here and hope you enjoy the blog and feel free to comment below with links to your blog/social media so I can follow you back, or just introduce yourself and say hi :))

Hope everyone has a great week!

Happy Reading!

I ended up going into a part of the city this weekend where my favorite used book store, Rust Belt Books, is located. I picked up 2 books, plus received 1 ARC to share with you!

PURCHASED
Android Karenina by Leo Tolstoy & Ben H. Winter

RECEIVED FROM PUBLISHER
The Fury [The Fury #1] by Alexander Gordon Smith

I also picked up this makeup kit from Ulta that was put out by Nyx cosmetics in anticipation of the release of The Mortal Instruments movie. You can check it out in more detail HERE. I haven’t played around with it too much yet, but I am planning on trying out the two looks that they give you instructions for. I am considering doing some type of post where I do makeup looks inspired by book covers, or movies. I’m still playing around with the idea and how I would do it (photos versus videos etc) but if you think that would be cool, let me know in the comments.

WEEKLY WRAP-UP
I spent a good part of this week sick with something eerily close to the flu, and got behind in my reading. This weekend was a busy one, too so I really have to buckle down, since between the book club book, the read along book, and then my review book… I’ve got a lot to read! We had nice weather this weekend, so I was able to spend some time with friends and boyfriend and I also took his parents out for their anniversary, which was really nice! We tried a new restaurant that we found, and luckily for us they had vegan options so we were happy about that. This upcoming week we have a 4th of July BBQ with boyfriend’s side of the family (his sister, who happens to be my BFF will be up visiting from Long Island with her hubby and my beautiful niece/goddaughter who just turned 1 in February!) and then Saturday is a Girl’s Day at a local spa, which I CANNOT WAIT FOR! What are you up to this week, and what are your plans for the 4th? Any traditions in your family that you do every year? We go up to the University at Buffalo (aka UB for the locals!) to watch fireworks – best display in town!

UP ON THE BLOG THIS WEEK
MONDAY – I gave 3-Stars to Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood in my review of this historical-paranormal novel about witches.
TUESDAY – I focused on mermaid themed covers on I Love Your Cover.
WEDNESDAYSave the Date {18} featured Still Star-Crossed by Melinda Taub
THURSDAY. FRIDAY. and SATURDAY I didn’t get anything up because I was feeling so yucky.
Happy reading!

THIS WEEK ON THE BLOG

  • On Monday, a new Book Blogger Confessions post went up that is all about BEA, ALA and attending these ginormous book events.
  • I debuted a new weekly post on Tuesday called I Love Your Cover. The first week’s covers were all vampire themed, and I had a ton of fun writing up this post! I think it’s a keeper. Also on Tuesday, I did a Cover Reveal for Conjure (Tethered #2) by Jennifer Snyder.
  • Wednesday showcased an upcoming book release, Forevermore by Cindy Miles, on the 17th edition of Save the Date.
  • Thursday‘s Book Blast included a Giveaway for Jill Cooper’s 15 Minutes. There’s still plenty of time to enter the giveaway, which is for a gift card, sunglasses, a purse, and several e-copies of some great books! You can also enter to win on the Goodreads page, which you can get to by clicking on the book title above.
  • Friday was filled with yet another Book Blast for Addicted to You by Colina Brennan, which is a New Adult Contemporary Romance. This one includes a giveaway too, so stop by the post to enter and visit the Goodreads page to enter to win also!
  • A day late, Sunday revealed my new books this week in my On My Bookshelf post.
In other bookish news, I joined a book club and will be hanging out and discussing books with Sara from Forever17 Books and Jessica from Jessabella Reads. If there is anyone else in the Western New York Area that is interested in joining, send me an email and I will give you all the details. Thanks so much to Sara for setting this up! Our first book is going to be Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes.

And in non-bookish news this week… work dragged and I thought it would never be Friday! It was pretty uneventful otherwise, and on Saturday I went on a tour of the Flying Bison Brewery with my boyfriend and a couple friends. It was a lot of fun, even though I’m really not big into drinking. Then we hung out with friends to watch the Stanley Cup Finals, and here it is Sunday evening, about to relax and watch a movie… and I’m not ready for the weekend to end!!!

Hope everyone had a fantastic week!
Happy Reading!
