Stolen Nights
AUTHOR: Rebecca Maizel
SERIES: Vampire Queen #2 | Book #1: Infinite Days
EDITION: Paperback, 303 pages
EXPECTED PUBLICATION: January 20th 2013 by St. Martin’s Griffin

WHAT IT’S ABOUT: Lenah Beaudonte should be dead. But having sacrificed herself to save another, she finds herself awakening with strange powers that are neither vampire nor human – and a new enemy on her trail. In her vampire life, Lenah had thought that being human was all she ever wanted; but the human heart suffers pain, heartbreak and loss.
With her new powers growing and the dark force of the Nex after her soul, Lenah faces a choice: between the mortal love of gorgeous Justin, whose passion fed her human soul, and taking a different path to become the mistress of her own destiny, wherever that may lead…
MY THOUGHTS: So the first book in the series, Infinite Days (which I totally bought because I loved the cover!) came out August 3rd of 2010! Yeah, that means by the time Stolen Nights releases, it’ll have been two years and 5 months! Sorry, but that’s just WAY too long to have to wait. I know that I LOVED Infinite Days, but I barely remember anything from it – so I’ll definitely have to reread it before I get the second book. But I do remember really loving it – and loving Lenah’s character. This is not your run-of-the-mill vampire book, that’s for sure! It’s unique and different that everything out there, and has enough to keep anyone engaged. Plus – did you READ the synopsis? Yeah! Can’t freaking wait!

WHAT IT’S ABOUT: (Highlight over to read; didn’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t read books 1 & 2) The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could have ever anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.

Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her … even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California – and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.

As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one … with the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

In the riveting finale of the Unearthly Series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.

MY THOUGHTS: I enjoyed Unearthly, and REALLY like Hallowed, so I’m very curious to see how the series ends in the third installment of the trilogy.  There are still lots of unanswered questions and I can’t wait to see how they play out!

Happy Reading!

COVER REVEAL {23} Deeper We Fall

AUTHOR: Chelsea M. Cameron
SERIES: Stand-alone
Categories: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance

WHAT IT’S ABOUT: Two years after her best friend was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury, Lottie Anders is ready to start her freshman year of college. Ready to move on. Ready to start forgetting the night that ripped her life apart.
Her plans come to a screeching halt when not one, but both brothers responsible for the accident end up back in her life again.
Zack is cruel, selfish and constantly rubbing what happened to her friend in Lottie’s face.
Zan is different. He listens to her awkward ramblings. He loves, To Kill a Mockingbird as much as she does, and his dark eyes are irresistible. His words are few and far between, but when he does speak, she can’t help but listen.
The trouble is, Zan was the driver in the accident, and now Lottie’s discovered he lied to her about what happened that night. Now she must decide if trusting him again will lead to real forgiveness, or deeper heartache.
MY THOUGHTS: Wow. That sounds pretty deep (pardon the pun). I am definitely going to be reading this one, it sounds very different and unique from other contemporary romances out there, and doesn’t seem like it’s going to give everything – including the happily ever after – up easily. I really like the cover too. The different watery shades of blue and the hands reaching for each other with one slightly slipping away it very nice. I really like the title font as well, and the placement of everything works great with the image too.
AUTHOR INFO: Chelsea M. Cameron is a YA/NA New York Times and USA Today Best-Selling author from Maine. What the Back of the Book Says: Sixteen-year-old Rayna sees angels, and has the medication and weekly therapy sessions to prove it. Now, in remission, Rayna starts fresh at a new school, lands a new job, and desperately tries for normalcy. She ignores signs that she may be slipping into the world she has tried so hard to climb out of. But these days, it’s more than just hallucinations that keep Rayna up at night. Students are dying, and she may be the only one who can stop it. Can she keep her job, her sanity, and her friends from dying at the hands of angels she can’t admit to seeing?

Psychiatry, fantasy and real life come together in A Shimmer of Angels, as a young girl struggles with identity, secrets, and confronting her greatest fears. A Shimmer of Angels is for anyone who has ever felt like an outsider, or perhaps has felt like giving up entirely. It touches on themes of suicide, ostracism and emotional pain. The author, personally exposed to suicide through the death of a beloved family member, will donate a percentage of sales of this novel to a suicide prevention and outreach program in San Francisco, California.

My Thoughts: I never get sick of Angel stories, and this one seems very different from the others I’ve read. It seems that it has a very personal touch from the author, and that it is going to deal with some pretty heavy content. Also, it looks like a percentage of sales from the novel is going to be donated to a suicide prevention and outreach program in San Francisco, CA. For that reason alone I would willingly dish out the cash for the book because I think it’s important that we help out programs like this – even if it’s not something we’ve personally needed/used or ever will because life can change in the blink of an eye. Therefore, I will not just read but I will also purchase this title!
